Merry Christmas

It's Christmas Day..
and yes, Gramps...
I know where my children are. Hehehehe.
And I miss them terribly!!!!!
Who would've thought I would be this lost without them.
The fact that they are having such a great time in Texas makes it a little bit more bearable.

What an Experience

I attended Mass for the first time with Don last night. Needless to say it was quite interesting. We went to the 10pm service. I felt like I was in the movie Gran Torino. A child sitting in the row in front of us was misbehaving badly. She turned around in the middle of the service and tried to talk to Donnie. Of all people!
He growled at the kid just like Clint Eastwood did in the movie.
I just about fell out of the pew...
Catholics and virgin priests and a grumpy ole growling man.
The little girl just turned back around and didn't try that again.
Funny stuff.

Reese's 15th Birthday

Reese picked Texas Roadhouse in the city as his restaurant of choice to celebrate his 15th birthday. You know me...I was more than happy to eat a steak on his behalf.
I had some difficulty getting a picture of Max...but finally he looked away long enough for me to get the camera on him. Bridgette is a pro...she's always camera ready.
Donnie's a man that enjoys a good meal.

Now is this not the look of a fifteen year old or what!!!!!
FINALLY...it's the birthday boy! We threatened to tell the staff that it was Reese's birthday so he would have to sit on the saddle and endure the humiliation. But lucky for him we didn't rat him out.
It was a fun evening. Happy Birthday Reese!

Shopping with the Elves

Went shopping in the city yesterday with Donnie, Max, and Reese. We went to Cabela's where the guys are worse than any woman I've ever seen. They get excited about fishing and hunting stuff just like I get excited about shopping for shoes. But they are worse! I at least get what I want and get out, but Donnie and Max had to look at and touch every dad gum fishing bait thingy in the store. He did buy me my very own and very first fishing rod & reel for Christmas.
But I have to wrap it! Go figure.

Bob's good deed for the day..

Gramps would be proud...
Someone had set an animal trap...one that snaps closed...behind the hotel unbeknownst to us. This morning Bob discovered it and found a cat with its paw stuck in the trap. He threw a towel over the cat and put it and the trap in a box. I drove him and the box to the animal shelter where I watched Bob and a very brave woman pry the trap open thus freeing the feline. The very tip of the cat's paw looked smashed, but hopefully he'll be ok. The workers at the animal shelter said this is the second incident of someone putting out this same kind of trap in a different part of town. The last cat had to have a leg amputated.
There's never a dull moment...

Donnie's 51st Birthday

Donnie's crying because he's an old man!
Great picture! Looks like I'm gagging myself, but I was really just licking cake from my finger.

Make a wish.
Donnie chuckles at his gag gifts. This is a dictionary so now he will be able to fight with me.

You might be a redneck...

Donnie rolled up some old rusty barbed wire so I could use it as a wreath. I was shoving spent shot gun shells in the spaces between the wires and then putting Christmas lights in the empty shells. In order for the lights to be secured in the shells, I was using a butter knife to turn the edges inward....kind of like when you're rolling pennies. Anyway...I was putting a significant amount of pressure on one when my butter knife slipped and I stabbed myself in the thumb of my left hand with the knife. The wreath is looking good...I'll show you pictures when it's finished.
Anyway...blood was dripping...I was bawling the good ole ugly cry...and Donnie was getting queasy. He was frantically calling for Bridgette, but she was at a basketball game, so Reese was there to take care of me. Reese was amazing...he should be a doctor. Moving on....Donnie called Peterson and we went over to his house so he could determine whether or not I needed stitches. Peterson said it would be fine...but it was deep, and I needed to make sure it didn't get infected. He put some iodine stuff he uses on the horses on my wound and then bandaged me up.
End of story.
Now...was that not a redneck story or what!!!
